A root canal is one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. This simple treatment can save your natural teeth and prevent the need of dental implants or bridges.
At the center of your tooth is pulp. Pulp is a collection of blood vessels that helps to build the surrounding tooth. Infection of the pulp can be caused by trauma to the tooth, deep decay, cracks and chips, or repeated dental procedures. Symptoms of the infection can be identified as visible injury or swelling of the tooth, sensitivity to temperature or pain in the tooth and gums.
If you experience any of these symptoms, your dentist will most likely recommend non-surgical treatment to eliminate the diseased pulp. This injured pulp is removed and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned and sealed. Root canal therapy usually involves local anesthesia and may be completed in one or more visits depending on the treatment required. Success for this type of treatment occurs in about 90% of cases. If your tooth is not amenable to endodontic treatment or the chance of success is unfavorable, you will be informed at the time of consultation or when a complication becomes evident during or after treatment. Drs. Jeppson, Baker and Sharp use local anesthesia to eliminate discomfort. In addition, we will provide nitrous oxide analgesia, if indicated. You will be able to drive home after your treatment, and you probably will be comfortable returning to your normal routine.

What's the narrative behind your teeth?
When your root canal therapy has been completed, a record of your treatment will be sent to your restorative dentist. You should contact their office for a follow-up restoration within a few weeks of completion at our office. Your restorative dentist will decide on what type of restoration is necessary to protect your tooth. It is rare for endodontic patients to experience complications after routine endodontic treatment or microsurgery. If a problem does occur, however, we are available at all times to respond. To prevent further decay, continue to practice good dental hygiene.

They were super accommodating to my traveling out of area and fit me in their schedule. The time and care they took completing my root canal was excellent. I received a personalized treatment plan with potential costs, both out of pocket and those covered by insurance. The day of the procedure went remarkably smoothly. Everything was on time, care was taken to explain the processes prior and during the procedure. I was never in any pain or discomfort. My post procedure treatment was explaind to me and I received post therapy instructions to take home with me. I jokingly shared with the Dr. Baker that I'd give them 10 out of 10 - "Would recommend", and that ended up being the truth.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.HB Kitty2024-01-16I met Dr. Sharp in November after being referred to him for a root canal that needed to be redone from 15 years ago. I was scared and in pain from my tooth being infected and really not knowing what was going to happen with my tooth. Dr. Sharp made me feel very comfortable and really explained the entire process and treatment and did an amazing job taking great care of me. A month later in December I had a different tooth giving me pain, after seeing my dentist that told me it was broken and needed to be extracted I called Dr. Sharp. Here it was later in the day on a Friday and Dr. Sharp not only picked up the phone to talk with me but he and his team got me in to look at my tooth that same afternoon. I wanted his professional opinion and what he would do if this was his tooth, the bottom line is I am terrified of the dentist but I really trust him. I went to see the oral surgeon in January that Dr. Sharp recommended and had my tooth extracted. Thank you Dr. SharpTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Holly Anderson2023-10-18Very welcoming and friendly staff. Clean and comfortable facility. My 17-year-old son had to have a root canal. They explained everything very thoroughly. Dr. Baker and his assistant Morgan have a great bedside manner. My son said it actually went way better than he thought it would, he was nervous to have a root canal done for the first time. The whole experience was very pleasant. Would highly recommend.Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google.Beth Springer2023-10-12My visit went well.
